Introduction
The online landscape continues to mature and social media has changed the way we communicate, both at work and in our personal lives.
This creates opportunities to champion the Learnlight brand and for personal expression, but it also creates risks and new responsibilities. Learnlight has, therefore, established a set of guidelines for appropriate use of social media, including but not limited to:
- Networking platforms (i.e., Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram).
- Video and photo sharing sites (i.e., Flickr, YouTube)
- Blogs, wikis, online forums and message boards (i.e., Quora)
- Internal messaging systems such as Yammer.
These guidelines are recommended for company sponsored social media activity and Social Media activity that is linked to Learnlight.
Guidelines
Use Good Judgment: Make sure you’re engaging in social media conversations the right way and remember that what you share online is permanent.
- Keep a “worldview” in mind: the way that you answer an online question might be accurate in some parts of the world, but inaccurate, inappropriate, or even illegal in others.
- Remember that you are responsible for what you write, which does not only reflect on you personally but also on the Learnlight brand. If you find yourself in a disagreement on social media, use a respectful tone or disengage.
If you’re unsure about what you’re thinking of writing online, pause and reach out to your manager or the social media team at marketing@learnlight.com for guidance.
Uphold Our Values & Policies:
Here at Learnlight, we’re proud of our diverse and inclusive people-powered culture and aware that we all need to do our part to nurture that and grow into the team we aspire to be. We aim to make Learnlight the best possible place to work, where everyone can be their true self and we therefore apply the same principles to building healthy social media engagements for our community.
All guidelines prohibit posts that express or encourage racism, bigotry, misogyny, express or implied threats of harassment or physical harm, or hate speech are strongly discouraged. “Hate speech” refers to any kind of speech – or endorsement or promotion of speech – that is derogatory toward a group of people. This can include race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexuality, caste, gender disability, or any other identity factor.
Protect Confidential Information:
Never share Learnlight’s confidential or proprietary information or share upcoming news about Learnlight. Examples include but are not limited to financial information; information on employees, customers, partners, or suppliers; business development deals and pricing information or comparisons.
Proceed with Caution:
You may encounter negative posts about Learnlight. Learnlight has a team that monitors social media and is trained to respond to these types of situations. Let this team respond or, if you believe they are unaware of the incident, alert them at marketing@learnlight.com.
Respect Ownership:
Everyone is encouraged to join our social media conversations; however, employees are not allowed to create or manage Learnlight branded social media accounts without official permission from Learnlight.
Stay Legal:
Respect copyright and fair use laws. Give credit where credit is due. Remember to follow terms and conditions for social networking sites.
Always remember to respect copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, and other third‐party rights on social media, including user‐generated content (UGC). How exactly you do this may depend on your situation, so work with your cross‐functional teams to make informed, appropriate decisions.
Thank you for observing these guidelines as you engage in online activity.
